Our team is conducting a series of nationally representative surveys on generative AI use at work and at home. The data are sourced from the Real-Time Population Survey, a nationwide survey that asks the same core questions and follows the same timing and structure as the Current Population Survey (CPS), the monthly labor force survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. We aim to inform policymakers and organizational leaders on the speed and intensity of generative AI adoption to give a better perspective on its economic impact in the country.
Read the paper The Rapid Adoption of Generative AI by Alexander Bick, Adam Blandin, and David Deming, which presents findings from the first in this series of surveys.
